Ofsted Inspection

Wednesday 19th March 2014

Dear Parents,

We have now received the report from our recent Ofsted inspection and from today it will be available on the Ofsted website.

A full copy of the report is attached to this letter.

I am very pleased to share with  you that the inspectors judged St Vincent’s  to be a good school where the teaching is lively and interesting and the children make good progress and achieve well. They recognised the extremely positive ethos and good relationships which support all aspects of the school life and the pupils’ good manners and behaviour.

On your behalf I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff, pupils and governors who have worked incredibly hard year in, year out  to ensure that we keep improving.  The Ofsted criteria  for judging schools are now much more demanding than in previous inspections and the judgement of ‘good’ reflects the determination of all members of the school to keep striving to make our school better and better.

Thank you to those parents who were able to speak to inspectors or complete the on-line questionnaire. I was delighted to find that 100% of you think your children are happy and that you would recommend the school to others.

The inspectors gave us some pointers for improving further which we will be working on over the next year. In particular watch out for more workshops in spelling, grammar and punctuation.

I hope you enjoy reading the report as much as I did. Your continued support for St Vincent’s is greatly valued and appreciated.

Yours sincerely

Ofsted Report

Miss Lawrence

Thursday 27th February 2014

Dear Parents,

Many of you will have heard during the week the sad news that Miss Lynne Lawrence has died. Miss Lawrence was the previous head teacher at the school and dedicated over 30 years of her life to St Vincent’s. She touched the lives of so many children and will be missed with great affection and sadness.

The funeral Mass will be next Thursday morning at Holy Cross church in Sutton Coldfield. Her family have asked if a choir of children would like to attend and sing at the Mass to help commemorate Miss Lawrence’s life. We have booked two coaches to take the children from Year 5 and Year 6. We hope this will be a joyful occasion despite our sadness, as Miss Lawrence always had a mischievous sense of humour and would want to be remembered with laughter. My intention is for all the children in these classes to attend but please let me know if you have any questions or concerns about your child taking part. We will return in time for lunch.

There will be some spaces on the coaches if any parents who knew Miss Lawrence would like to come. Please let the office know by Monday if you would like a place.

Yours sincerely

Janet Tibbits
