Reading Corner

The class book corners are looking good and the children are getting stuck into their reading. Come back soon to see recommendations for some great books. Don’t forget to look at the Reading Blog to find the Book Challenge for each class. Some great ideas for Birthday and Christmas presents!

World Book Day

We had a great day on Thursday with an abundance of stories throughout the day – adults and children choosing their favourite picture books to share and children presenting their work in a special assembly. Thank you to Miss Antonio for organising the day for us.

Show Me What You Know

Well done to all the children who entered this competition. The entries are displayed in the hall. The quality of work was amazing, with some beautiful and creative ways of showing your knowledge. Prize winners to be announced soon.

Public Speaking Champions

We are very proud of our Year 5 Public Speaking Team who won the Caritas Christi Public Speaking Competition.

The team was chosen from our new Debate Mate club which was launched on Monday at Birmingham University.

Who Stole the Monster’s Underpants?

The Jolly Postman has delivered invites to a special tea party at St Vincent’s this afternoon. We’re hoping to find out who has taken the Bear’s porridge, the zebra’s stripes, Mickey Mouse’s bow tie, Mary Poppins’ umbrella, Robin Hood’s bow and Alice in Wonderland’s Queen of Hearts.

What an amazing day. We loved having our parents come in a read with their children. There were some great performances and at the tea party we finally found out who stole all the book characters possessions. Snow White confessed after she was caught on camera! The children forgave after she apologised and promised never to do it again.

The Lawrence Library Opening

The Lawrence Library was officially opened and blessed this week. We were glad to have the family of Lynne Lawrence with us for the occasion. The library is dedicated to her in recognition of 41 years of dedicated service to the school.

Bedtime Stories

Pyjamas, hot chocolate…..and stories! The best possible way to end the day!
Thank you to all the staff who stayed to read their favourite stories – you were awesome.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

Reception told us the story of the Very Hungry Caterpillar. Great acting and dancing!
