Culture Day 2025

Catholic Social Teaching

What is Catholic Social Teaching?

Here at St Vincent’s, Catholic Social Teaching is central to our mission and daily life. Inspired by our patron saint, St Vincent, we strive to serve others with love, humility and compassion. We believe that every child is a unique gift from God, created in His image and called to use their talents to serve both our local and global brothers and sisters in Christ.

Catholic Social Teaching helps our children understand what it means to live out the Gospel in practical ways. Its principles—human dignity, solidarity, caring for the poor and vulnerable, working for justice and peace, and stewardship of God’s creation—guide how we treat one another and how we respond to the needs of the world around us. We encourage our children to see themselves as active members of God’s family, with a responsibility to love and serve others near and far.

Our Curriculum: Using Our Gifts to Make a Difference

Our curriculum is built upon these values and is designed to help every child recognise and develop their God-given gifts. Across all subjects, children are encouraged to ask how their learning can be used to help others and make a positive difference in the world. Whether through Religious Education, wider curriculum lessons, collective worship or assemblies, children learn that faith is lived through action.

We provide opportunities for children to support local charities, respond to global needs and care for our common home. By linking learning to real-life issues, children come to understand that even small actions can bring hope and change. In this way, our curriculum nurtures compassionate, courageous learners who are confident in using their gifts to serve others and live as faithful witnesses to Christ in today’s world.
