We are very proud of our Year 6 pupils who showed great resilience this week during their SATs. They have worked so hard over the year and especially during the run up to their tests. Well done – you have stayed calm and focused each day. A great attitude which will take you far in life. Now have some relaxation time!
Thank you to all who joined the procession last Sunday, especially the parents who helped to carry the statue of Mary. It was a beautiful way to honour Our Lady. There are photos on the school website.

………Archbishop Mengesteab Tesfamariam from Eritrea. The children were delighted to show Father Solomon’s special visitor around school today. Thank you for your £1 donations for Red, White and Blue day today. The money raised will help to train new priests in Eritrea. This will remind us how lucky we are to have Father Solomon here at St Vincent’s with us.
Sunday is the feast of Pentecost. The children’s liturgy group will be celebrating at 12noon Mass. Next week there will be a Pentecost prayer service for the children in school.
Our Boccia team are playing at St Francis School on Monday – Good luck team!
On Wednesday there is a sports inspired PE Workshop for Year 4 to prepare for an athletics event at Woodcock Street after the holidays. After the half term holiday our sports coach will be running house competitions for to see has improved their fitness and skills most this year. Get practising!
The children in Reception Class will have their Eye Screening Tests on Thursday next week.
On Monday afternoon Ray Douglas will be in school to run some workshops with the children in Y5 and Y6 giving a positive message about keeping safe from guns and gangs.
Year 1 and 2 Garden Centre
The Grand Opening of the Garden Centre will be on Monday at 2.30pm. Parents are invited to come and have a look around the classrooms to see the children’s art work, writing, and you can even buy a plant which the children have grown from seed.
Grammar School Entrance
Year 5 parents who would like their children to take the entrance tests for grammar school should note that they must register by 4pm on Friday 29 June 2018. For more information see https://www.birminghamgrammarschools.org/
Show Me What You Know
Well done to the children in Y3 and 4 who have made some amazing model volcanoes at home with their parents. They are on display in their classrooms and KS2 entrance area and photos are on the school website.
New Show Me What You Know Challenge
Today we have been looking at the Family Tree of Prince Harry. You are invited to help your children make their own family trees showing their grandparents, parents, uncles and aunts and siblings. Make it as colourful as you like and send it into school next week.
The photographer is in school next Tuesday. If you would like younger siblings to be included please come to the main office at 8.30am.
Our whole school attendance for this week is 98.5% and for May so far it is 98.1%. Let’s keep working to be in school every day for the best possible learning opportunities.

Jaden and Myla in Y2 and Arron in Y4 have earned their 60 Golden Stamps prize and Stephanie, Funnayah, Hanan in Y5 ; Corwyn, Rebecca and Sebastian in Y2 have all gained their 100 Golden Stamps. Nursery Places September 2018
If you have a child who will be aged 3 by 1st September 2018 make sure you apply now for a nursery place. Application forms are available from the school office. Full time places will be offered to those who meet the criteria.
This week’s house point winners are Abraham with 246 points. They are in first place with 1067 points. Keep trying hard to earn those points.
St Vincent’s Parish and school will be having a special evening to celebrate the many cultures our families belong to. It will be on Friday 8th June at 7pm in the school hall. Come in your national dress and bring along some traditional food to share. If you would like to present a traditional dance or music, please let us know and we will plan a slot for you.
Next Wednesday will be a whole school Mass to celebrate Pentecost. Parents are invited to join us in Church at 9.15.
